How common is domestic abuse? Some general information
  • Domestic abuse accounts for approximately 16% of all violent crime and has the highest rate repeat abuse (survey England and Wales 2004/05) *

  • One in four women and one is six men suffer from domestic abuse in their lives

  • Two women are murdered every week by their current or former partners. This equates to 35% of all murders. Domestic abuse is the cause of death of 30 men per year *
